How to Clean Glass Jugs
If we think of a beautiful set table, we imagine shiny silverware, white tablecloths, shiny enamel plates, and brilliant glasses. No failure is allowed, neither stains nor shadows, much less limestone encrusted jugs or bottles.
Cleaning the glass sometimes seems difficult, and the drops of resistant limestone, while not constituting dirt in themselves, recall the disorder and frustrate the good care of the table. Nevertheless, there are effective and inexpensive ways to intervene in the carafe before setting it aside.

One of the methods to be applied is to dry the carafe well immediately after rinsing it so that water droplets do not form when it is dried. If the jug is stained despite this good habit, try inserting a handful of coarse salt, the juice of one lemon, and half a glass of white vinegar into the container.
Shake the contents to wet all the internal walls and leave to act for about ten minutes. Proceed by rinsing thoroughly under running water. To remove limescale from the bottom of a jug of water, you can also use the cooking water of boiled potatoes, to which you will add some yeast. The mixture must be left on for five to ten minutes and helps dissolve the traces of limestone.
These are clearly home methods in the name of respect for the environment, which is opposed to the more hasty but definitely excellent anti-limestone products on the market. If you prefer to use the latter, the only precaution is careful rinsing, as the chemical aggressiveness of the residues could harm your health.
But is there anyone among you who has not received a decanter as a gift? It is probably easier to find who forgot the last time they used it and cleaned it. However, if you have not yet changed its intended use, you can take this advice and give it new life to make a vase of flowers.
Get a few handfuls of rice or broken eggshells and pour a couple of glasses of white wine vinegar into the decanter, shake them, rub them with a special bottle brush and leave to settle for half an hour; then rinse carefully. This is a great technique for making your crystal vessel shine.
