Remedies for Polishing Bathroom Tiles

In addition to getting dirty, bathroom tiles tend to become opaque due to the steam generated by hot water, especially when opening the shower. This condition involves an excess of limestone deposited on the porcelain part and in the joints. We can intervene with very effective remedies to polish the tiles in a simple and lasting way to solve the problem.

Use car wax

A first valid remedy for polishing matted tiles is to use car wax. The latter performs an abrasive action, as it contains tiny particles of granular substances, capable of superficially grinding the affected part. The application must be made with a cotton pad and then removed with a clean cloth, which at the same time allows polishing the tiled surface and the relative joints.

Apply liquid paraffin on the tiles

Another substance particularly suitable for polishing bathroom tiles is undoubtedly liquid paraffin; it is a derivative of the wax which proves to be an excellent species if applied with a brush on the affected surface. Then, it eliminates the residues with a clean cloth before and a woolen one after.

Rub the tiles with alcohol

Even alcohol in contact with shiny surfaces serves to make them so if they are opaque or with excessive limescale. From this, it can be seen that by applying it on the tiles with cotton wool and rubbing vigorously, a refined mirror effect is obtained just as it happens on marble when the product is used.

Use straw oil

If the bathroom tiles do not have a porcelain surface but have a semi-glossy finish, such as stoneware, straw oil is ideal. The latter not only performs a moisturizing action for the material in question but at the same time, after leaving it on for a good half hour, it allows you to obtain it shinier by simply using a woolen cloth.

Use vinegar and baking soda on the tiles.

If we want to create a product at home that performs a good cleaning action on the tiles, and at the same time, allows us to restore the original shine, then we can use a mix of vinegar and baking soda. The two products respectively perform a degreasing and slightly abrasive action.

The application can take place either in liquid form then with a brush, or by making the baking soda prevail and then use it as a sort of abrasive paste. In all cases, in the end, to optimize the result, rub the tiled surface with a woolen cloth.
