How to Steam Clean the Kitchen Hood

Often the dirt that accumulates in the kitchen hood can be a difficult enemy to remove. However, through the use of a method, such as the steam one, we can clean thoroughly without excessive effort. Furthermore, the steam exploits the high degreasing and sanitizing power of high temperatures.

In this way, we can avoid the addition of aggressive and toxic products. Let’s go and discover together how to steam clean the kitchen hood.

Let’s start with the cleaning of our hood. Let’s disconnect the power supply and block the hood exhaust fan with adhesive tape. We then turn off all the hood lights and make sure that the entire system is completely cold before starting to clean.

Remember to keep appliances such as a blender, food processor, toaster, etc., away. If this is not possible, let’s move some electrical equipment. Or cover them with thick paper or plastic bags. In this way, we will avoid that they can be hit and damaged by the steam.

Let’s proceed by also covering the pots and dishes that are near the hood. In this way, we will prevent them from getting dirty with the grease that will melt during cleaning. At this point, remove the filters from the hood and wrap them in a cellophane wrapper.

This is because they may be greasy. Now let’s make sure we have all the tools you need to scrape off the grease. That is the scraper, the cord, the degreaser, the glasses, or the mask.

Let’s now scrape the grease off all the hood’s inside walls, the kitchen exhaust fan, and the fan hood blades. Once all the grease has been scraped off, we spray the entire system with the degreaser and then leave it to act for about twenty minutes.

It may be necessary to spray the degreaser several times, obviously depending on the accumulation of grease formed in the hood. When all the grease residues have been removed, we use the steam pressure washer setting the temperature to 150 degrees to clean the entire system, including the fan and the hood. Once you have finished cleaning the hood, make sure you have dried all the water before turning on the hood fan and lights again.

Note: During the work, we protect hands and eyes.
